Classic Dressage with a Competitive Edge....

Nina Thompson began riding as a toddler.  Her grandparents gave her the opportunity to ride ponies on the weekends she spent on their farm.  Her first pony "Flags" was a pinto that she rode western until age 8.  Nina's love of dressage blossomed when she was a teenager when she began taking lessons with Jeffrey Taylor who was an event rider short listed for the Canadian Team.  At Purdue University, Nina spent several semesters as hunt seat rider on the Intercollegiate team.  After graduating from the University of Kansas, Nina went earn her JD at Washburn University while simultaneously competing through training level eventing.

Putting her law career on hold after passing the bar exam, Nina decided to take the opportunity to train with Arlene Rigdon as her working student for the next five years.  Nina successfully competed her gelding "Salutare" through PSG and earned all of the scores for both her USDF bronze and silver medals.

During this time Nina built a large clientele of both junior and amateur riders.  Four of her adult riders went on to achieve their USDF bronze and silver medals and she coached gold medal winning junior teams.

Nina feels blessed to have been able to train with some of the finest riders in the industry!  Arlene Rigdon, Rebecca Rigdon, Eike Von Veltheim, Dorothy Morkus and Beverly Rodgers are some of the wonderful instructors who have influenced her riding and training.

Currently located in Bellingham, Washington, Nina teaches a small group of competitive adult amateur riders working at training through fourth level.  Nina's hopes to get back in the competition ring on "Diego" her young gelding she has owned from a few weeks in age.
